The CDC reports that over 24 million Americans have COPD and it is the third leading cause of death in the U.S. Tobacco smoke is the main cause of COPD; therefore, it is highly advised to avoid tobacco use or second hand smoke. As with any device, there are different variations and options to choose from. These monitoring devices were developed to assess lung function and adherence to treatment in COPD patients. Some of them have cloud technology which help providers detect deteriorating conditions of their patients remotely.  Also, some of these devices work in conjunction with apps on mobile devices where you can store and retrieve data as needed.
